AHL 3 vs Na Fianna
Tuesday, 23rd June 2015

Result: 2 13 to 0 10

The Senior B Hurlers took on Na Fianna at Sancta Maria on Tuesday evening in AHL 3

Boden started well and Collie O'Neill had a point on the board within thirty seconds and added a second two minutes later, while in between Na Fianna opened their account with a point. On the 8th minute young Aaron Coffey registered his first point. Boden were well in command and over the next 15 minutes, while Na Fianna only scored one additional point, Boden continued to pick off points, with two more from Collie O'Neill and one each from Aaron Coffey, Naoise Maguire and Donal Butler. Just when Na Fianna managed a good passage of play & finish with a good point, it was immediately wiped out, as Aaron Coffey rattled the net at the other end. Na Fianna responded with two points, including one from a free. Indeed if Na Fianna free taking had been better, they could have registered at least three more points by then. Boden finished the half with a great point from Ronan Cleary, to leave the score at 1.9 for Boden to Na Fianna's 0.6.

The second half started in a similar pattern to the first half, with Collie O'Neill again picking off a point almost from the throw in. The teams then traded points with the Boden score coming from Aaron Coffey. There were a number of stoppages in this half which affected the game & resulted in scoreless passages of play. Na Fianna scored 4 points in the second half, with only one coming from play. Boden killed off the game in the 17th minute when Austin Lynch burst through for a goal. It was only just reward for Austin who was unlucky not to have registered another two from other attempts. James Roche and Austin added another point each to leave the final score at 2.13 to 0.10.

This was a very good win for Boden and put the defeat by Sylvesters well and truly behind them. The performances the two young players, Aaron Coffey and Sean McDonnell were really impressive. One word of caution, against different opposition the number of frees conceded could prove very costly.
