Minor A hurlers continue good run - Le Fear Bog reports

Ballyboden and Cuala played out a pulsating draw in Mediterranean like conditions at Sancta Maria on Tuesday evening last.  This was a game that could have gone either way but when its being reassessed Ballyboden will possible be the more disappointed side.

The first half was a slow burner and Ballyboden were the slower of the burners.  The decisive score of the half went Cuala’s way in the 21st minute when they got in for a goal and established a 4 point lead.  Cuala had extended this lead to 5 points by the half time whistle on a score of 1-6 to 0-4.

The introduction of half time substitutes, Fergal Ryan and Pearse Christie, provided the spark that Ballyboden were missing throughout the opening half.   It was Ryan who pounced for a goal in the 40th minute to put his side back in the game.  Ryan followed this up with 3 excellent frees to put Ballyboden in front for the first time.  Ballyboden held a 3 point lead but on the stroke of injury time Cuala got in for their second goal to level the match.  Tommy Glynn pointed a huge free from distance to put Boden in front but Cuala responded almost immediately to level and send each side home with a point.

As forementioned, Ballyboden be the more disappointed as a number of chances went a begging.  Indeed, they will regret 2 missed penalty chances and in the final throws had a glorious goal chance only for lady luck to desert them.
