Lucan then stretched their lead with three points in a row before John McGuire finished superbly to the net to leave the sides level. The game was being played at a fast pace with high quality football on both sides. A pointed free by Adam Kelleher was quickly equalised by the visitors before a great run forward and finish by Conor Lowe raised the second green flag for the home side. The home defence was working very hard to limit scoring chances with Jack Lambert, Harry Donaghy and Conor Hanrahan to the fore. A pointed free by Lucan was followed by a well taken goal to leave the half time score at 1.06 to 2.02 in favour of the visitors.

The second half began with a good point by Malachy Codd following good work by Robert Cullen in midfield. Lucan continued to take their scoring chances with two points from play. The home team continued to apply pressure resulting in further points from Malachy Codd and two well taken frees by Adam Kelleher. Cian Leahy and Eoin Behan made an immediate impact when introduced from the bench with Eoin unlucky to see his effort for goal hit the crossbar before going over for a point. Lucan were still keeping in front with well taken scores before a great point from play by Robert Cullen and a free from Adam Kelleher brought the sides level. Cian Hassett worked very hard following his introduction from the bench as the home team continued to apply pressure. However, Lucan weathered the storm and scored the last three points to inflict the first league defeat of the season on the home team with a final scoreline of 1.16 to 2.10.

Well done to all the players on a great effort throughout the game with a special mention for Sean O’Donnell for deputising very well in goal in the second half and to Cian Hassett for stepping up to the team at short notice. Thanks to the parents and Boden supporters who gave great encouragement to the team throughout the match and to Miriam Christie for the photos. The league now takes its annual break as the Leaving Cert approaches and our best wishes to all those players in their studies and exams in the coming weeks.

We wish our injured squad members a speedy return to full fitness.
