A Mini First

[ Monday, 20th April 2009 ]

First Mini games in Boden Sat 18 April 2009  A mini games exhibition was played in Páirc Uí Mhurchú by the under 9 boys footballers of Ballyboden and St. Judes  on Saturday at half time in the Senior football league match between Ballyboden and St. Judes. Idea of mentor Derek Ward and organised by Derek and fellow mentor Phelim Mac Cabe the idea was a huge success. The boys loved the experience of playing in front of a large appreciative crowd.

Back Row L to R: Kevin Desmond, Luke Mc Dwyer, Tim Sweeney, Cathal Mac Cabe, Darragh Lynch, David Ward.

Front Row L to R: Adam Hussey, Robert Lambert, Dylan Carroll, Shane Mac Call, Sam Woulfe, Conor Lyons.

The crowd included a large number of parents from Boden and Judes who showed their appreciation with a loud cheer and applause for the display of skills from the boys who played two matches during the 10 minute intervil.

The current under 13s were involved in a similar experience in Thomas Davis as under 9s in 2005. This is however according to many long time members the first of its kind in the club and they are looking forward to many more in football and hurling in the future. Well done to the referees on the day; Megan Carney and Brian O'Regan. Thanks also to Noel Sheridan, Ciaran O'Brien, Sean Brennan, Colm Basquel, Donal Monahan, Gerry Mahon and Ger Flaherty for their help and support on the day. Congratulations to the under 9 footballers and their supportive parents.
