Ballyboden just edged out in Under 16 Girls County Final
Ballyboden St Endas Under 16 Girls team were very unlucky to succumb to a late goal from St Brigids to lose out on the final score of 4-5 to 2-8 in the Under 16 County Final played last Sunday.
On a bitterly cold Winter's day both teams served up a feast of football. Brigids went seven points ahead at one stage but Ballyboden fought back bravely spearheaded by Michelle Clancy at full back and goals from Megan Carney and Jenny Ward. The loss of county star Ciara Ruddy midway through the second half was a major factor in Boden's defeat, as up to that point Ruddy had been very dominant around midfield.
After the final whistle, Boden and their mentors Derek Ward and Pat McGrath were very gracious in defeat and in congratulating Brigids, team captain Aisling Keane gave a memorable speech. Well done to Brigids on a hard-fought win.
