CG Magazine Launched

Among the first class team of writers contributing to the new magazine are:

  • Tom Humphries (The Irish Times)
  • Denis Walsh (The Sunday Times)
  • Therese O"Callaghan (The Irish Examiner)
  • Diarmuid O"Flynn (The Irish Examiner)
  • Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh (RTÉ)
  • Liam Cahill (An Fear Rua - The GAA Unplugged!)

"CG-Camogie Girl" will deal with camogie players" sporting and lifestyle interests. For example, "Me and My Hurl" will feature a different celebrity in each issue talking about her involvement in the sport, past or present. The magazine will strongly feature exclusive top-class photography by the best in the business.

The new magazine"s publisher is Diarmuid Ryan. Diarmuid is a member of a famous GAA family with links to Tipperary, Dublin, Westmeath and Offaly!  He has been a club administrator and has played at inter-county level.

Welcoming the new magazine, the Ardstiúrthóir of Cumann Camógaíochta na nGael, Síle de Bhailís, said: "All proceeds from the sale of this magazine will revert to the Cumann. This will be used to continue the development of Camogie so we will actively promote the magazine to ensure substantial sales and subscriptions."

Cumann Camógaíochta na nGael was founded in 1904 with the aim of providing Gaelic games for girls and women in Ireland. The game quickly became popular and has spread overseas. As the Centenary Year approaches, the game continues to thrive with almost 84,000 members.
