To win any final in Croke Park is special but to win the prestigious Corn Kitterick (U-13 Div 1 Boys) and Corn Austin Finn (U-13 Div 1 Girls) on the one day cannot be bettered.  Roared on by over 600 enthusiastic pupil supporters and hundreds of parents and friends from the local community, St. Colmcille's S.N.S. did the double yesterday in style and in hugely dramatic fashion.  Blessed with a lovely day (no doubt organised by Fr. Jimmy Murray whose attendance was much appreciated), the huge attendance saw two fabulous games where the spirit, commitment and skill of St. Colmcille's overcame worthy and talented opponents in St. Bridget's, Castleknock and Belgrove B.N.S., Clontarf.

The girl's game was all square with minutes left when a wonder goal by Ailbhe Finnegan gave us the breathing space to hold on for a one-goal victory.  Player of the game performances came from Niamh Simmons, Claire Madden, Ailbhe Finnegan, Áine Duffy and Hannah Hyland. Congrats to the management team, Joanne O'Sullivan and Richie Sweetnam, on an excellent job.  Joanne's place on the Boden Senior Team is certainly under threat with the emerging talent on show from her young charges.  Richie is fortunate that nobody would be interested in his spot in goal for Crokes Hurling team!  Final score:  St. Colmcille's S.N.S.  1-4 St. Bridget's 0-4

The Corn Kitterick Boys Final went to extra time when a last minute goal for Belgrove B.N.S. equalised just at the end of normal time. However, St. Colmcille's re-grouped and a fabulous goal from Philip McCormack propelled our boys to a narrow victory at the end of extra time. 

Outstanding displays on view from Adam Maher, Gavin Morrell, Dylan Walsh, Nathan Benson, Philip McCormack, assisted by super sub Ryan Collins saw us take the Corn Kitterick for the fourth time this decade, 2000, 2004, 2007 and 2009, thus making up for last year's narrow final defeat.  Managers Patrick Patten (still recovering from his recent cruciate knee operation) and Ken Ashman (still recovering from his team's recent defeat in the Cork championship final) did a fantastic job.  Thanks to Brian O'Regan and Paul McLoughlin for their attendance and support.
