GAA Archive Image of the Month

Micheal Colins, Luke O'Toole and Harry Boland, Croke Park, 1919

Each month the GAA Archive will feature one image from its vast collections as Image of the Month.  All images will be availlable to purchase online from the Archive Shop.

February's image features Micheal Collins and Harry Boland in Croke Park in 1919 along with GAA Secretary Luke O'Toole. Collins became a prominent figure in London GAA circles after 1906 and went on to become the treasurer of Gerldines GAA Club in West London. Through his involvement with the GAA in London Collins met Sam Maguire who initiated Collins into the IRB. Boland was born into a GAA family and went on to become a member of the Dublin Senior hurling team, a member of the GAA Central Council in 1901 and Chairman of the Dublin County Board in 1911.

This photo was taken a year before the infamous Bloody Sunday shootings at Croke Park.
