Please see below for details of an upcoming Coach Education Workshop in the club which is being delivered by former Tipperary hurling captain, Tommy Dunne. This course will be very beneficial to Juvenile and Adult coaches of not only Hurling/ Camogie but also for Football/ Ladies Football Coaches. COURSE: Hurling Workshop – Coaching the Games Approach Way
DATE: Friday 26th Mar 2010
TIMES: 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM
LOCATION: Ballyboden St Endas, Dublin 16.
The aim of the course is to develop the coaches’ understanding and to enhance better team play through a games approach to practice and training.
“How” “What” When”
Introduce games that encourage different forms of communication amongst team members (e.g. visual as well as verbal).
- Games with the emphasis shifting from the technical to the tactical & better team play
- Teaching real Games through problem solving
- Specific games for different positional areas of the team (e.g. games that encourage forwards to make unselfish runs to create space for team mates).
Duration: 2 hours.
Methodology: Field based presentations during which coaches will gain experience through practical coaching, grid games and conditioned games.
