Trip to Barcelona

[ Saturday, 5th February 2011 ]
The Senior Footballers had a short winter break in the fantastic city of Barcelona.
It was a great weekend hosted by the Barcalona Gaels GAA Club who are doing great work among the ex pats in the city.
Two club members Niall Brennan and Stephen Fee are leading members of the Gaels and they showed the Boden lads around the city for the weekend. A training game was arranged on the Saturday morning and while The Gales were out classed, they did show up very well on many occasions.
An interesting fact to note, the Gales ladies team have no Irish girls on the side currently. They are all Spanish girls.  Niall and Stephen tell us that the game is doing well in Spain for the last few years, but that they are getting more enqueries from Irish lads who have taken up employment opportunities in Spain. Stephen is the Club Chairman, (surely the youngest club chairman of a GAA Club) and Niall is the club coaching officer.
On behalf of the club we would like to thank them for a wonderful weekend and we all look forward to making a return visit to the Catalan capital next year.
