Visit of Liam McCarthy Cup to St. Colmcille’s S.N.S., Knocklyon – Thursday 24 March 2011

[ Friday, 1st April 2011 ]

The visit of Tipperary player Noel McGrath along with the Liam McCarthy Cup to St. Colmcille’s S.N.S.  was enjoyed by pupils and staff alike.  Noel spoke in the school hall to all those boys and girls who play camogie and hurling with the school and club.  Subsequently he spoke to the entire school assembled on the school playground.  The sun was shining and the beautiful day added to the occasion.  The sun was certainly shining for the pupils when Noel McGrath gave them an evening off homework.

Mr. J. Murphy (Sports Coordinator) said he looked forward to the day when the McCarthy Cup would make a return visit with Dublin as All Ireland Hurling Champions.  With four ex-pupils of St. Colmcille’s S.N.S. on the Dublin panel, David Curtin, Shane Durkin, Conal Keaney and Conor McCormack, such a visit would certainly be memorable.
